While Swift and Harris did not technically reunite at the event (at least as far as the public knows), fans did make note of their slightly awkward run-ins inside the venue. In particular, Swift’s late entrance to the ceremony had her gliding nonchalantly past him.
During host Trevor Noah’s opening monologue, Harris was also seen laughing and clapping for a joke about Swift’s recent slate of appearances at NFL Kansas City Chiefs games, Entertainment Tonight reported.
Though the two had reportedly broken up amicably, things got contentious after Harris denied collaborating with Swift in an interview following the release of his 2016 single featuring Rihanna, “This Is What You Came For,” which Swift cowrote. Harris acknowledged the situation in a September 2016 interview with British GQ. “It’s very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly,” he said. “The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicized than the relationship itself. When we were together, we were very careful for it not to be a media circus. She respected my feelings in that sense.”
Today, Harris is married to British journalist Vick Hope, who accompanied him to tonight’s ceremony, while Swift has of course been in a very public relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
