Kristen Davis admits that perfecting the Sex and the City wardrobe was sometimes gruelling. The actress - who played Charlotte in the hit TV show - opened up about 2am fittings and having to be steamed into certain looks.

Discussing one particular Mugler dress worn in The Cheating Curve episode, Davis said, as reported by WWD: "I’m curvy so they had to steam me in and out of it. During those fittings, tears were shed."

Talking at a fan event hosted by The Standard Hollywood and popular Instagram account Every Outfit on Sex and the City, Davis said that, while the four characters looked incredible, a lot of hard work went into their style.

“We would wrap at 2am and they would say, ‘You have a fitting [for the next episode].’ We were not allowed to complain," she said. "We would be so tired. We’d just be naked, sitting there, and sometimes delivery people would come and we’d be too tired to put our clothes back on. We did suffer for the outfits but that’s OK.”

Last week, SATC celebrated its 20th anniversary since the first episode aired. To mark the occasion (and also her run for New York governor), Cynthia Nixon - who played Miranda - launched a merchandise collection inspired by the show.
